What I love this week... Roald Dahl

It's World Book Day next week (March 3rd), and it's always been a bit of a calendar highlight in this house of self-confessed bookworms!

We are very much one of those families who get twitchy when we have nothing left to read - thankfully we're a 2 minute walk from the local library, so we can feed our habit relatively easily!

Amongst my daughter's favourite reads was, of course, anything (anything!) written by the fabulous Roald Dahl. They're books that we started to discover together ('The Giraffe and The Pelly and Me' being a favourite bedtime story when she was little), and as she grew older and read more independently she steadily worked her way through the entire collection (twice).

She is a living, breathing Matilda (but hopefully with nicer parents)!

This week I fell in love with some gorgeous Roald Dahl curtain fabric I spotted, and I wanted to share it - and some of the other gorgeous finds - with you:

Now, if you've got a chiddler who needs to find a costume for World Book Day this old post of mine might help a bit (sorry, probably only any good for a girl!) - World Book Day Easy Costume Solved. And if you've got any gloriumptious ideas for easy dress up outfits and can leave a comment below, that would be absolutely whoopsey-splunkers!

Right, time for a drop of frobscottle - thirsty work, all this blogging you know...

What I love this week... retro spring themes

Hmmm, towards the end of February and I'm starting to pine for spring... in fact, I've decided I have got to get me some daffodils this weekend to cheer up the kitchen!

With all this yearning for warmer days, I've found my eye has tripped up and stopped this week at the very engaging sight of anything sunshiny and bright...

Yellow is a colour that I've never been able to get quite right when it comes to decorating - but there's no denying that (especially coupled with shades of blue) it's a shade that simply sings with joy and optimism!

So let me share a few of my favourite finds over the last few days, just to share a little retro infused sunshine warmth your way on this cold and dark February evening!

*  Modern White Wood Cuckoo Clock, £139, 4 Living
*  Familjen Round Yellow Tray, £35, Isak
*  Vintage Upcycled School Chair, £85, Folksy
*  Woodstock Mustard Yellow Wallpaper, £55, Rachel Powell
*  VW Camper Kettle in Pacific Blue, £59.99, The Fowndry
*  Enamelware Kettle, £39.95, Mini Moderns
*  Children's Clothes Hanger, £14, Folksy
*  Retro 366 Rocking Chair, Retro To Go
*  Fox Pouffe, £115, Orwell and Goode

Have you spotted any gorgeous springtime finds? And what do you think of decorating with yellow - is it a colour you excel at (or wish for then fail at, like me!)?

Sarah :)

Brand new: 'Floral' design wooden photo blocks - perfect for Mother's Day!

Personalised 'Floral' Wooden Photo Blocks
- a perfect present for Mother's Day
I know, one minute it's Christmas and the next we're talking about Valentine's Day and Mother's Day! Time often moves so fast I swear it ruffles my hair...

But, there's no getting away from it: Mother's Day is on the horizon. March 6th to be precise!

I've got lots of gorgeous goodies on the site for you to choose from, lovely treats I know your mum will love (and you, so start dropping hints!). And these beauties have just landed - a lovely addition to the existing range of personalised wooden photo blocks I have on the site.

Available in a huge range of colours, you can choose from the words 'Mum', 'Mummy', 'Nan', or 'Nanny' - or you can create your own word as there's an option to buy extra individual blocks. So if you want 'Grandma' or even 'Mumsicle' (which is what my daughter, for reasons best known to herself, calls me) that's not a problem!

Each block is made of solid wood and features 3 of your favourite photos on each block - so, if you order 'Mum' for example, the blocks will show 9 photos in total. The top and bottom of each block is finished with a pretty floral design. The blocks are then given a lovely 'worn' feel by sanding and finishing them with Annie Sloan wax.

Stack them vertically, horizontally, straight or on the tilt - however you display them they will look delightful. And you can keep turning them round to display different photos too.

A really touching and unique present for your mum (or you!) on Mother's Day. Visit the PhotoFairytales site now for even more great gift ideas.
